Song: Standing tall at Lake Cullulleraine
I wrote this song at Lake Cullulleraine on Sunday, April 25, and performed a part of it at the gala opening of the Lake Cullulleraine Megaplex and Theatre Complex, on the shining shores of Australia's premier resort - Lake Cullulleraine. Barry C.
Here we are – we’re all back again
at beautiful Lake Cullulleraine
We’ve come out here to exercise our brain –
we’re here for the Writers’ Camp
We’ve got pens, we’ve got paper to
and we know exactly what we’re gonna do
We’ll write stories, songs and poetry too
out here at the Writers’ Camp
BRIDGE 1
Writers’ Camp is fantastic
we don’t do Mathematics
And I’m just ecstatic, it’s true
I know you’ll create lots of stuff that is great
We can’t wait to start work with you
The sun is shining and the lake looks great
and I’ve got to say I can hardly wait
To share a cup of tea with Bill me mate –
out here Writers’ camp
Yes Billy Sauer is back again.
He’s a mountain of a man and a man among men
And he’s no slouch with a song and a pen –
he’s wonderful at Writers’ Camp
BRIDGE 2
And Sarah takes “talk” and “yap” –
from it she creates RAP
Her song writing class is great news
Yes you’ll write lots of songs –
and you just can’t go wrong
Writing everything from Skip Hop to Blues
You’ll work with lots of people in the coming days
and I’d like to introduce our good friend Blaise
She’s incredibly artistic in so many ways –
Let’s welcome her to Writers’ camp
And we don’t care if the sky turns grey –
we don’t even mind if it rains all day
We’ll just laugh and write and sing and play –
cos we love Lake Cullulleraine
BRIDGE 3
And nobody’s keener than our good mate Lena –
the stories she writes are so cool
As we write by the lake – our minds are awake
And it’s so much better than being at school
This tradition is now in its 16th year.
And we’re all happy to be back up here
We always get excited when it’s drawing near
cos we love it at Cullulleraine
So welcome to you one and all –
you know this is a place where we can all stand tall
So just join in and you’ll have a ball -
up here at Lake Cullulleraine

I want to play footy and tackle a cow

A song from the pen of Thomas the Fisherman
I want to play footy and tackle a cow!
I want to play footy and tackle a cow!
I want to play footy I want to play now!
Oh I want to play footy and tackle a cow!
I like to eat goldfish with a boom and a pow
With some tartare sauce I’ll eat it now
I want to eat goldfish and tackle a cow.
I want to thumb wrestle a koala and feed it French fried snails
And tackle a cow
CHORUS
Oobeddi oodebi oogebi do
Oobeddi oodebi oogebi do
Oobeddi oodebi oogebi do
I sit in the trees chewing on bees
Tackling cows in the tall gum trees
These cows that I tackle -they’re called tree cows
All covered in spots - yellow and blue
And big purple dots and pink ones too
If you listen carefully this might make sense to you.
I want to thumb wrestle a koala and feed it French fried snails
And tackle a cow
CHORUS
Oobeddi oodebi oogebi do
Oobeddi oodebi oogebi do
Oobeddi oodebi oogebi do
I want to go fishing and tackle a cow!
I want to go fishing I want to go now!
Oh I want to go fishing and tackle a cow!
I want to catch a Moo Moo fish
With udders underneath and horns on its head
And fins on its sides – bright flouro red
I want to do all the things that I said
Tackle a cow - before I go to bed
CHORUS
Oobeddi oodebi oogebi do
Oobeddi oodebi oogebi do
Oobeddi oodebi oogebi do
I want to play footy and tackle a cow!
I want to play footy I want to play now!
Oh I want to play footy and tackle a cow!

1. Welcome to the Lake Cullulleraine Writers Camp blog
A word from Barry
It's Friday morning, the 30th of April, 2010 - the day after this year Writers Camp ended. I'm feeling pretty tired, but I'm in a very positive and calm place in my mind and feelings after one of the best Writers Camps I've participated in. So, I'm getting our Writers Camp blog up and running. This is a CLOSED site - people can't access it via google.
