Barry C Morning at Lake Cullulleraine

Barry Carozzi: Song writing became a feature of the Lake Cullulleraine Writers camp about ten or twelve years ago. And each year, I find myself writing lots of songs at Writers Camp. It's as if just being there gets my creativity firing . And almost every year, I write a song about the place itself. This year was no exception.

The water is still as a mirror
The blue sky reflects in the glass
The air is as still as a sleeping child
The moorhen are stalking the grass
There’s no breezes ruffling the water
Or disturbing the leaves on the tree
An occasional flash of a fish as it jumps
Out there where the water runs deep
Cos it’s morning at Lake Cullulleraine
Day is dawning at Lake Cullulleraine
Kids are yawning at Lake Cullulleraine
It’s feeling so good, being back here again
And when the sun sets in the evening
And darkness envelops the world
Pin pricks of light start appearing
We’re aware of the vast universe
You can stare for long hours into darkness
You can stare for long hours into time
And ponder the ageless horizon
And the brief flaring spark of our lives
And it’s quiet here, at Lake Cullulleraine
I love the night here at Lake Cullulleraine
Moonlight and starlight – and inner light
At Lake Cullulleraine
It seems that each time that I come here
Spend some time here beside the lake shore
I’m touched by the stillness and beauty
That reaches to my very core
I feel a strange calmness invade me
And a deep peace that comforts my soul
And the poems and the songs and the stories
Emerging and making me whole
I write poems here at Lake Cullulleraine
I write songs here at Lake Cullulleraine
I feel whole here, I just love being at Lake Cullulleraine
